Save a young mother from the misery of malnutrition 🆘

Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) is offering food baskets to new mothers and newborns in Pakistan. Many mothers are giving birth to sick, malnourished, and stillborn children because they cannot afford nutritious meals.

Pregnant women and new mothers in Pakistan are dying needlessly due to maternal malnutrition. With your support, we can save thousands of lives.

IHHN provides FREE medical aid to new mothers and their children across 11 hospitals and has now launched the NourishMom program, distributing food baskets to prevent the tragic loss of life due to malnutrition. We cannot accomplish this mission without you.

🧺 1 food basket costs $50 and feeds a family of 6 for one month ($1.61 per day)
🧺 $600 can feed a family of 6 for one year

A $50 monthly donation ensures that a mother, a newborn, and their family do not go hungry and are spared the life-threatening consequences of malnutrition. Please donate generously.

🆘 The Unseen Suffering

In Pakistan, countless families do not have enough to eat. It’s a daily nightmare for expectant mothers who are so undernourished that childbirth could kill them.

🔷 Every two minutes, a woman dies during childbirth
🔹 Every year, maternal malnutrition contributes to 800,000 newborn deaths
🔹 Nearly 10 million Pakistani children suffer from stunting

Pregnant women need nutrients like iodine, iron, folate, calcium and zinc to prevent anaemia, pre-eclampsia, haemorrhage and death during labour. Additionally, their children are born malnourished, stunted, or stillborn. How can these weakened mothers survive and feed their babies?

These Vulnerable Mothers Need Strength

This mother endured sheer terror while IHHN worked to save her baby.

Motherhood Should Be A Joy, Not A Death Sentence

Childbirth is a life-threatening experience for a malnourished mother, and the first 1,000 days after childbirth are crucial for her to provide the nutrition her baby needs to grow healthy.

For $50, you can save a new mother’s life by providing her family with nutritious food for one month. Many earn an income of less than $3.20 per day. Affording food, let alone sustaining a family, has become a luxury.

NourishMom's program consists of two critical phases:

First distribution: To promote the health of the mother and unborn child, nutritious food is provided to expectant mothers during the first six months of pregnancy.

Second distribution: Six months after childbirth, the food baskets continue to support mothers with the nutrients necessary for breastfeeding and to ensure their family is fed.

IHHN is determined to save thousands of pregnant women and young mothers in Pakistan, but they can't do it alone. By supporting NourishMom, you impact the lives of thousands of mothers and their families, providing them with FREE food baskets and hope for a brighter future.

Yes! Approximately 70% of our recipients are Zakat Eligible.

How is my Zakat money spent? Who is it spent on?

The Zakat donations that we receive from our donors are distributed among Zakat eligible patients for whichever treatment they are receiving from Indus Health Network facilities.

What are your guidelines for distributing Zakat Donations?

The Indus Hospital provides quality care without any discrimination, free of cost through the support of your Zakat and Donations.

With the help of reputable Sharia Scholars, Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) has developed a criterion to ascertain if Zakat is applicable to a certain individual. Whenever a patient visits the Indus Hospital, he/she goes through the assessment with TIH’s welfare officer to determine if the patient is eligible for Zakat or not.

Once the recipient of Zakat is identified, their MR number is marked to signify that the patient’s treatment should be supported from Zakat account. The patient is requested to sign a declaration granting the Indus Hospital permission to collect Zakat on their behalf and to use that Zakat to sponsor the treatment of his/her and/or other patients or hospital requirements. Once the patient is discharged, hospital generates an internal bill and sends it to the Zakat Committee for settlement.
